The European Fleet Industry’s most coveted Award is presented every year to the person who has most successfully contributed to developing a fleet management strategy across the globe, and has effectively implemented an efficient cost structure for the vehicle policy by taking into account local differences and current fleet issues such as climate change, safety and mobility management.
This year’s ceremony was held on Thursday 19th November at the Salone delle Fontane in Rome. The event was attended by over 700 international car fleet experts from around the globe. The Fleet Europe Awards recognise outstanding achievements in various categories of fleet management.
Large Fleet Winner
The 2015 Large Fleet Award was attributed to Christian Alsø Lindskov, Head of Group Fleet & Procurement Excellence at ISS World Services.
The Award was presented to him by Hans-Georg Lutz, Senior Manager International Corporate Sales at Mercedes-Benz Cars. Members of the jury pointed out that Mr. Lindskov’s fleet management strategy was extremely clever, with an excellent management buy-in regarding the fleet management plan and objectives.
The ISS programme is commendably process-orientated. Christian Lindskov convinced the fleet experts of the jury with his enthusiasm and will to turn the fleet management objectives into tangible cost-savings with a focus on safety and driver satisfaction.
Medium Fleet Winner
The winners of the 2015 Medium Fleet Award are Montse Empez Vidal, Chief Purchasing Officer at Applus and Luisa Amate Comesaña, Group Fleet responsible at Applus. Adrian Porter, Director Fleet and Remarketing at Hyundai Motor Europe, presented Ms. Vidal and Ms. Comesaña with the Award. The jury rewarded Montse Empez Vidal and Applus for their optimisation of resources, minimisation of costs and risks, creation of consistency across the Group and flexibility for each country’s fleet structure.
International Fleet Green Award
This Award was won by Jean Zermati, Group Fleet Manager at Orange, and presented to him by Stéphane Chesnel, Head of PSA International B2B Development. This prize underlines efforts accomplished in promoting an nvironmental oriented fleet in order to both mitigate global warming and respect authorities regulations regarding GHG emissions.
Indeed, for five years now, Mr. Zermati has been promoting a fleet with strong reduction objectives for O2 emissions and costs in order to increase Orange’s business. He is transforming the traditional fleet approach from a car-per-user to a user-need fleet, with the introduction of hybrid and electric vehicles. His next target is to develop further the employees’ car-sharing attitudes and alternative mobility approach with a fleet composed of EVs with a 125 g/km CO2 emission ratio.
International Fleet Safety Award
The International Fleet Safety Award was attributed to Selçuk Gündoğdu, Vaillant Group Commodity Buyer, and presented to him by Emmanuel Longeard, Key Accounts Director at Renault-Nissan Alliance International.
This prize recognises a company that has successfully implemented into its fleet a safety project focusing on its drivers’ security, the use of new technologies and TCO optimisation.
The jury rewarded Vaillant Group for its motivation to show that continuously updated information provided to drivers equals better and safer behaviour, but also allows a more transparent management policy. Selçuk Gündoğdu promoted the presence of telematics, Driving License checks to detect risk driving attitudes and a Driver Safety training course to eradicate them. Selçuk Gündoğdu’s win at the Fleet Europe Awards tonight illustrates that safety can be cost efficient and keeps employees satisfied.
International Fleet Mobility Award
This International Fleet Mobility Award recognises the importance of an integrated mobility plan into car fleet management and rewards a project that focuses on developing mobility within the company while offering original transport alternatives and optimisation of the use of the car.
The Award went to Jean Zermati, Group Fleet Manager at Orange. Ralf Kostrewa, Head of International Fleet Sales at Volkswagen Group Fleet International, presented Mr. Zermati with this prize. Orange pushed a strong mobility strategy for its car fleet especially by promoting new attitudes among employees with car sharing. Jean Zermati acquired many electric vehicles, which offer a flexible vehicle use to e very employee when he needs it while respecting TCO and climate regulations.
International Fleet Innovation Award
This prize is given to an international fleet owner presenting a fleet management project that stands out in the field of innovation and in particular regarding the car policy, the use of reporting tools, the CSR approach, the safety approach and driver satisfaction.
This year, Jean Zermati, Group Fleet Manager at Orange won the International Fleet Innovation Award which was handed to him by Csaba Csiszko, global director environment, health and safety at Philip Morris International (PMI). The jury rewarded Mr. Zermati for developing further mobility alternatives among employees like car sharing and for installing telematics boxes which proved that EVs can replace thermic vehicles.
The use of boxes helped to control the car fleet while they also generated advice to each employee for improving their driving. Mr. Zermati and Orange showed that technology is an invaluable aid in managing and developing a mobile, cost-efficient, green fleet.
