While at the 2016 Australasia Fleet Conference and Exhibition Fleet Auto News made an effort to visit every stand and chat with the exhibitors. And it was a worthwhile exercise because we learnt a lot about the products and companies that were represented.
There was a good showing from the vehicle manufacturers, though some were missing. They all had vehicles on display and the ones we spoke with agreed being there was a brand awareness activity and an important part of connecting with fleet decision makers.
Companies providing telematics and vehicle fitouts were well represented. And even though they all offer similar products, each one had their own point of difference.
The team from hidrive (Bison Group) were out the front with Service Bodies Australia. And inside there were CSM, RXI Group and Autosafe Industries.
When we spoke to the telematics companies (eight in total) it became clear that each one was different. And it reinforced the point that organisations considering a telematics solution should make sure they know what problem they are trying to solve, before talking to potential providers.
It also was good to see there several vehicle auction providers in attendance. Manheim and Pickles were there as the two main players, but Autorola and Slattery Auctions also want to claim a share of the fleet market.
Fuel card providers were represented by WEX Australia, BP and Viva Energy. Convenience versus discounts and fuel quality were the battle grounds in this product group. Representatives from all the companies were easy to approach and very knowledgeable about the market and where their offer is placed.
Overall more than 40 suppliers were represented. Conference delegates were given multiple opportunities to walk through the exhibition area and meet the suppliers.
Because of the effort the suppliers made Fleet Auto News has listed below the winners of the ‘Unofficial 2016 fleet exhibitor awards.
