Ford Australia has again teased its upcoming 2026 Ranger Super Duty workhorse, this time revealing images that show eight-stud wheels and beefy 33-inch rubber.
Based on what we know so far, the Ranger Super Duty will offer a car licence-suitable gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 4500kg, maximum braked towing capacity of 4500kg, and a gross combination mass (GCM) of 8000kg. While payload hasn’t been revealed, we estimate it could be as high as 2000kg.
The eight-stud hubs, which are units shared with the F-250 Super Duty, were chosen to provide “enhanced strength and load-carrying capacity” Ford outlined in a release. Bolted to the truck-like hubs are 18-inch steel wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tyres.
“The eight-stud configuration offers a significant advantage in terms of load capacity and ensures an even distribution of weight across the wheel,” said Drew O’Shannassy, Ranger Super Duty Engineering Program Supervisor.
“This is important for a vehicle like Ranger Super Duty which will be expected to frequently carry and tow heavy loads. The wheel and tyre we’ve selected provide a great combination of strength, grip and reliability that our hard-working customers need. Our testing is pushing this vehicle to the limit so that customers can be confident in its capability.”
It’s clear that, despite its obvious productivity focus on the road, the Ranger Super Duty will also be a seriously capable off-roader – with Ford also releasing footage of it navigating gnarly trails.
The Ranger Super Duty will arrive in Australia and New Zealand in 2026, and we can’t wait to find out more about this hardcore ute option in the lead up.
