Close your eyes when you watch this video and listen to the commentary. Then guess what year it was made. If you update the clothing and convert it to HD colour, it could have been shot on an iPhone in the last five years. We could replace this video with a 2015 edition featuring Elon Musk telling how cheap the Tesla vehicles are to run and that electric vehicles will make the air cleaner in overcrowded cities.
It’s amazing how far automotive technology has come in 50 years though the conversation on electric vehicles is still the same. Roy During, the amazing guy who designed and built the electric engine for the car, talks about the benefits of EVs in congested cities. This was back in 1968 when the Australian population was only 12 million people (half the current level).
Sydney is currently being turned into Swiss cheese by multiple tunnel boring machines that are creating road and rail infrastructure. Each road tunnel needs massive ventilation stacks to circulate the air and remove the vehicle emissions. Hopefully in 10-20 years there will be no emissions because EVs will dominate.
