It’s the end of day one and the attendees at the 2016 Australasia Fleet Conference and Exhibition a buzzing with the things they have heard on the opening day.
The final plenary session on telematics ran a little over time due to the number of questions and discussions about the legal issues associated with monitoring the system once its installed, such as – What happens if you have the data showing bad driver behaviour but don’t do anything with it, and then someone is killed?
“The things I learn at the conference fills my to-do list for six months” said one delegate.
AfMA executive director Mace Hartley was pleased with the first day and the quality of the speakers at each session.
“The initial feedback from delegates was that they were delighted by the quality of speakers and the actionable learnings that they can take back their workplaces” said Hartley.
Richard Schuster, group manager procurement and fleet at Churches of Christ Queensland was excited to be in attendance. “I missed the conference last year and I noticed a freshness and vitality this year. The opening plenary on driverless cars set the tone of the day” said Schuster.
“Fleet management is being invigorated with the changes in technology. It’s a fun time to be a fleet manager because its a unique set of skills that every business needs. The bar has been lifted in the quality of content at this year’s conference and I can’t wait for tomorrow’s sessions”.
One attendee from local government said he brought his boss this year to help him understand the challenges currently being faced by the industry.
There’s no doubt that the combination of relevant information and networking has made day one a success. Now off to the dinner and some rock ‘n roll with a live performance by Ian Moss.
