The Toyota Hilux was the top selling new car in Australian during 2020. With an extensive model range to meet the needs of fleets, novated lease buyers, tradies and consumers, Australians are in love with the Hilux and dual-cab utes.
Toyota launched an upgraded model in 2020 and FAN took the SR5 (top of the line) for a drive in regional NSW to test it out.
The first thing you notice is the restyled front grille. There is a chrome surround on the SR5 and it looks great with the new LED headlights and LED daytime running lights. Changes to lighting technology used in cars has allowed the designers to work with different shapes and spaces which is evident in the new Hilux.
You’ll get a taste of luxury in the SR5 with leather seats all round, heated in the front and power adjustments for the driver. The technology has improved with Apple CarPlay standard and the Hilux is now packed with safety features which will attract fleet and novated lease buyers.
Toyota has recalibrated the six speed automatic transmission and the diesel engines now delivers 150Kw of power and 500Nm of torque. You can really noticed the power improvements compared to the previous model allowing you to take the Hilux anywhere.
